Profetia di sancta Brigida

Description

Ascribed to St. Birgitta. 103 tercets. The poem begins with the words: "Destati, o fiero lione, al mio gran grido..." and ends with: "Perse fortuna il suo splendore surgie / El cielo il mostra e altro affetto il porgie".

The manuscript Firenze, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, II. IX. 125 alludes to a certain Iacopo da Montepulciano (better known as Jacopo del Pecora) as verse translator.

Note that Francesco Bindoni's printed edition Prophetia de Santa Brigida con alcune altre Prophetie (Venice 1525) contains a different apocryphal prophecy.
