Description

Fragment from manuscript damaged in a fire in Biblioteca Nazionale in Turin 1904. Originally 304 cc. A photograph was taken from before the fire, showing a frontispiece similar to one in the Ericsberg manuscript (inserted between f. 69 and 70), kept in the Royal Library in Stockholm. The surviving fragment shows sign of another miniature.

The book is bound in two volumes, of which the end of the first was completely destroyed (ff. 149–160).

Dating
  • Assuming that the relations to the manuscripts below is correct, the dating is late 14th century, perhaps as early as 1379.

    Aili (2003:55), however, dates the manuscript to after 1391, the time of St. Birgitta's canonization, since one of the illuminations depicts her with a halo.
